You were motivated to lose weight on January 1st, but since then, you may have fallen off the wagon. The weather is warming up and now is the perfect time to bounce back. We have just the weight loss app for that!
First things first, don’t beat yourself up if you haven’t been exercising as much as you had hoped. Getting into the groove with exercise can be challenging and negative talk will only discourage you. Be positive and focus on what you have accomplished, rather than what you haven’t.
Re-evaluate your goals. Maybe your goal of losing 50 pounds was too big to start out the gate with. Try to reach mini-goals. Plan to lose the first 5-10 lbs. Once you get there, then move on to the next goal of another 10 lbs. It’s easier to stay motivated when you can celebrate these milestones. Rewards also help you stay motivated, so treat yourself to a spa day or a new shirt after you reach each goal.
Share your goals with a friend. Best case, they’ll even join in your quest to get fit. Worst case, you’ve just made yourself accountable for your goals. If you don’t own them and take control, you’ll have to explain why you didn’t meet them. Also, by sharing your goals, you’ve automatically identified someone you can celebrate with WHEN you reach them. Who knows? You’re competitive juices may even get flowing.
Find something you enjoy. There are so many exercise options these days that you should never be doing something you hate. Don’t like running? Try Crossfit. Hate to swim? Maybe Pilates will work for you. There is no universal exercise that works for everyone. Find what works for both your body and your mind and you’ll see results. If you need help with your motivation, try a good weight loss app.
