Every year beginning in late November America undergoes what seems like a nationwide facelift. Glowing lights illuminate the streets, carolers fill homes with holiday songs and cheer, and the scents of cranberry, cinnamon and pine dance on our noses as if to say “Happy Holidays!”
This joyous time of year brings together the three Fs. Family, friends and food. During these jubilant months, we hurry-up in order to slow down and soak up every moment of these festive days. When January rolls around, we make promises to ourselves to be better, in every sense of the word.
Typically, at least one of these resolutions comes about due to “oops” behavior over the holidays. Binging and overindulging on treats seem to surround every moment starting Thanksgiving through year’s end. But this year, we want to be better.
Most American’s gain one persistent pound over each holiday season. As a nation we will collectively gain 300 million pounds before the start of the year. That’s a lot! This year, let’s start our resolutions early in order to have a not-so-hefty-holiday. Let’s dance more and sit less. Lets play with our kids and our dogs during commercial breaks. Let’s celebrate over sledding and walking in the snow rather than watching old re-runs and eating an extra piece of pie. This holiday season, lets make exercising into a game. And lets do it together.
From the Nexercise team to celebration enthusiasts everywhere, lets have a more active holiday season, and get our resolutions started early. Happy holidays!
