It improves your blood flow and also works as a great stress buster. Simply sit on a yoga mat in a cross legged position or the padmasana and straighten your back. Rest your hands on your knees and close your eyes. Breathe in deep and try to hold it for at least 5 seconds. Repeat the process about 10 times before you open your eyes.
Another easy to follow yoga asana, Balasana is also known as the child’s posture and is extremely beneficial in relieving pain and stress. To perform the Balasana, simply sit on the yoga mat putting your weight on your knees. Flatten your feet on the floor, take a deep breath and exhale and bend forward from your waist. Stretch your arms on the floor while resting your head on the mat. This elongates your back and stretches your thighs and hips to relieve back pain and improves blood flow in your thighs and hips.
The name of the pose literally means tying a bridge and is also known more commonly as the bridge posture. The posture can be a bit tricky for the beginners but is one of the greatest stress busting exercises ever. Simply lie on the yoga mat on your back keeping your arms at your side. Bend your legs from the knees and place your feet flat on the ground. Slowly lift your hips from the ground while keeping your feet and hands on the ground. Lift your hands above your head while holding the posture and repeat. This relaxes your mind and also improves blood flow to the brain which relieves any mental illness and depression.
A quiet easy to follow, forward bending posture, Uttanasana is a great workout that focuses on your abdomen and thigh muscles and also improves the flow of blood to the head. Stand straight on a yoga mat, and raise your hands slowly above your head without bending the elbows while slowly inhaling. Bend forward and push your hips back so that your palms lay flat on the floor. Touch your forehead to your knees and hold the posture for 4-5 seconds. If you cannot get into this position, bend your knees a little till your body is more flexible to hold positions like this. While rising up make sure you do it slowly without jerking up to avoid putting stress on your back.
This posture is one of the simplest yet extremely effective if you want to tone your arms, shoulders, back, hips and thighs. It is also known as the plank posture and is a great way to get a fabulous and toned abdomen. Lie flat on your belly on the yoga mat and place your palms next to your face. Bend your feet a little so the toes rest flat on the floor. Push off the floor with the palm and raise your hips in the air. Hold the pose for as long as you can and you will feel your stomach muscles tightening. This is a great way to relieve stress while working out your arms, abs, shoulders and thighs.
